Report: Second suspect arrested for Lewis Street and Terrill Drive shooting in Ruston

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

RUSTON, La. (KTVE/KARD)– According to the Ruston Daily Leader, a second suspect has been arrested after a shooting occurred near the Ruston Housing Authority apartment complex on May 1, 2024.

According to Ruston Police, they arrested 19-year-old Shantasia Denise Philson, on May 20, 2024. Authorities confirmed that Philson and Tiyan S. Heard allegedly exchanged gunfire at each other in the incident and the shooting occurred near the intersection of Lewis Street and Terrill Drive.

Heard was also arrested earlier this month and charged with attempted second-degree murder. According to Ruston Police, Philson was shot multiple times but Heard was uninjured. No further information about the gunfight has been released. Police said the women reportedly knew each other.

Philson is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Attempted Second-Degree Murder. Philson will remain in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on a $520,000 bond.
