Man accused of threatening Madison Heights Walmart makes first court appearance
(WSET) — The man charged with threatening to shoot up the Walmart in Madison Heights on May 3 had his first court appearance Tuesday. Skyler Thomas is facing a felony charge for a terroristic threat in writing. He went before a judge, via video call from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, for his advisement hearing in Amherst County General District Court.
Convicted murderer of Lynchburg teen dies in car crash while on parole
LYNCHBURG, Va. – A man who admitted to strangling a Lynchburg teen girl to death in May 1988 died in a car crash last week, according to Virginia State Police. As we’ve reported previously, on April 5, 1989, Gregory Joyner, who was 17 years old at the time, was convicted of the first-degree murder and attempted rape of 15-year-old Sarah Jamison. He was sentenced to life plus 10 years, the maximum sentence for his charges; however, in November 2020, he was granted parole.

Dr. Chris Thomson is coming back to Centra's leadership team after a hiatus from Central Virginia to work in hospitals in Colorado and Maine.
