Clyde seniors cap football careers with strong finish to 2026 campaign
Clyde coach Eric Leuthold put Linkin Mullins and a few classmates on the field to start the third quarter against Norwalk, for one final snap. The play call was a quarterback draw. Forty yards later — with a lead block from Mullins — Karcen Garner was in the end zone to cap their careers as the Fliers shut out Norwalk in Week 10. Clyde won three of its last four games, after winning once in its first six. "We came together collectively and focused on the violence," Mullins said. "We felt we weren't violent enough in our execution. We were more aggressive in practice, and it helped in games." High school football Wesley Kayser helps lead Woodmore out of fog The strong close to the season provided a morale boost. "We had high expectations," Mullins said. "With the rough start, the finish helped us have more fun to end the season. The team can build on leaving a legacy — that under no circumstances should you quit. You face adversity into the storm. "The next group can buy into that for a bigger year in the new system." It was Leuthold's first season at the helm for the Fliers. Mullins

Crestview spoils Bucyrus' district debut, march to 1st final since '18
NORWALK - Crestview coach Kenedi Goon expected a little more out of her team against Bucyrus in Tuesday's Division VI district semifinal at Norwalk High School. "I felt like the whole pace of the first two sets wasn't quite Crestview volleyball," Goon said. "It felt a little slow to me, and maybe that's just my high expectations of the team." The No. 3 Cougars deserve high expectations coming off an 17-win regular season they lived up to those by taking down four-seed Bucyrus in four sets 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19. DIVISION III: Ashland shakes off slow start against Columbian in district semifinal "Dropped the third set, which we didn't want to, but we were able to bounce back and that's all that matters," Goon said. "I'm proud of them for pushing their tempo, pushing the pace, and stepping up to get it done." That hastened style of play forced Bucyrus into making several unforced errors on the night, most of the time at costly moments either thwarting a momentum-building run for the Redmen or extending a run for the Cougars. "We just seemed to be lagging tonight," Bucyrus coach Amber Christy said. "Don't get me wrong, Crestview is a good

"Every team is going to play for their life come tournament time," Ashland coach Jenise Vaughn said. "I was very impressed by Columbian, they have improved tremendously over the last few weeks. They were just battling, and we welcome that challenge. "It's fun to play good teams, it's fun to have a little bit of pressure ... I'm incredibly proud of how our girls handled that pressure and came out fighting and even stronger in set two." The defending state champion Anthony Wayne girls soccer team once again showed great resolve in the tournament as the Generals advanced back to the district finals with a 2-0 shutout of a tenacious Findlay side on Monday night. St. Francis de Sales School to add sixth grade, establish middle-school academy
St. Francis de Sales School plans to add sixth grade and establish a middle-school academy for students in Grades 6 through 8 beginning with the 2028-29 school year. The addition of sixth grade creates an earlier entry point for families seeking a Catholic, college-preparatory education. While the school has operated as a Grade 7-12 institution, the academy will allow St. Francis to focus more intentionally on the academic, physical, social, and spiritual needs of boys ages 11-14, it said. “The launch of St. Francis de Sales Academy is an important step in the continued growth of our school and our mission,” said the Rev. Joe Newman, president of St. Francis de Sales School. “By creating an educational experience tailored to our youngest Knights, we are building on the Salesian tradition that has guided St. Francis for generations and renewing our commitment to helping every young man become who God created him to be.” The decision reflects the school’s commitment to individual student development, interest from families seeking a sixth-grade option, and the opportunity to strengthen the educational experience across all grade levels, the school said. “A successful middle-school experience is about more than preparing students academically for high school,” Principal

SHELBY — It was a history-making kind of night at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Shelby football senior Brady Bowman caught seven passes for 151 yards and one touchdown to move into eighth place on the Ohio High School Athletic Association's all-time career receiving yards list. He also surpassed 4,000 career yards and now sits at 4,114 and counting, while Shelby’s team dominance turned into a 42-7 victory over Marion Harding in Week 10. HOW'D WE DO? WEEK 10 PICKS All tied up with one week of high school football left “It is an unreal feeling to be on the list of all-time great receivers. It’s more than just what people see out here, it's putting in the work when no one is else is,” said Bowman. Shelby completed its third straight 10-0 regular season. “It hasn’t set in yet, and I bet a lot of kids would want to have this moment. I'm truly grateful,” said Bowman. Shelby coach Rob Mahaney knows the significance of tonight’s accolades. “These seniors are going to graduate going 30-0 in the regular season. That’s pretty special. The amount of high school football players that can say that has to be really small,” Mahaney said.
