Nearly New Shop yields $232,000 for scholarships
College-bound seniors from East Bay, Leonard and Sumner high schools were honored guests at a scholarship award event May 20, held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Sun City Center. The 2024 new scholarships to 36 students—12 from each of the three schools—total $72,000. The college-bound contenders chosen will receive $2,000 for each of four years if they maintain the required grade average. The students’ families, principals and guidance counselors were also on hand to help celebrate.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — More than 200 spellers are competing in this year's Scripps National Spelling Bee, and three hail from the Sunshine City. Bruhat Soma (12), Amara Chepuri (11) and Jordin Oremosu (14) all threw in their hats this year for a chance to represent St. Petersburg and be named champion. Cardinal Mooney names Knight new head volleyball coach
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Dr. Allan Knight has been named as the new head coach of the volleyball program at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School. Knight comes to the Suncoast from from Lake Brantley High School where he was a teacher and Assistant Director since 2020. According to the Cougars Athletic Director, Rafael Fernandez, Knight brings more than 25 years of experience in leading and developing young athletes.
