(FOX40.COM) — The Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is planning to expand its state-of-the-art veterinary service location in Roseville with a new 8,800-square-foot facility, according to Placer SPCA.

Placer SPCA is looking to expand its current adoption and education center at 200 Tahoe Avenue in Roseville which opened in 2018 with a new veterinary and foster care center.

This new facility is planned to replace Placer SPCA’s existing veterinary clinic, which has been found insufficient in meeting the needs of homeless animals admitted to the shelter.

“The upgraded medical facility will enable Placer SPCA’s veterinary staff to expand services such as spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchips, dental work and heartworm and flea prevention for shelter and community pets,” Placer SPCA wrote in a news release.

Camp Resolution was ordered to close but may now get a reprieve from Sacramento officials

Placer SPCA says the ever-growing population in Placer County has led to an animal care crisis with how few pet care providers are in the area.

“So many of our Placer County friends and neighbors value the love and companionship of their pets,” said Leilani Fratis, Placer SPCA’s chief executive officer for more than 22 years. “The demand for the services that we provide our community is unprecedented. We are thrilled that this new Veterinary and Foster Care Center will allow us to offer expanded compassionate care for animals in Placer County.”

The official groundbreaking for the new clinic will be held sometime in July.
