    Kennedy, Jefferson track heads to Rosemount for section True Team tests

    Tough field sees Irish, Lakers advance to weekend’s State True Team meet in Stillwater

    Kennedy and Jefferson track and field teams headed to Rosemount High School on May 7 for the Section 3AAA True Team meet.

    True Team refers to the scoring format where all finishers receive points instead of just the top finalists to showcase a team’s depth across the roster.

    The state True Team meet, hosted by the state track coaches association at Stillwater High School begins Friday afternoon with Class AAA and continues Saturday with Class A in the morning and Class AA in the afternoon.

    Rosemount won the boys Section 4AAA True Team title with 1,111.5 points ahead of runner-up Shakopee (1,038) and third-place Prior Lake (1,008.5). Jefferson was seventh (575.5) and Kennedy 10th (389).

    Prior Lake girls captured the title ahead of runner-up Rosemount, 1,101-1,073 while Eastview was third (977), Jefferson was seventh (664) and Kennedy was 10th (331), two points behind ninth-place Burnsville (333).

    Jefferson’s boys 4x800 relay team picked up the lone event title in 8:24.23.

    Jefferson senior thrower David Schiller was runner-up in the discus going 150 feet, 5 inches, and he was fourth in the shot put reaching 49-8.

    Kennedy’s Anthony Taing was 12th in the discus going 123-2 and 25th in the shot put (34-2). Eagles sophomore Jayveon Kelly was 15th in the shot put with personal-best of 41-11 and 17th in the discus (116-2).

    Jefferson junior sprinter Evan Feller turned in personal records in the 100 and 200 events. He was 10th in the 100 in 11.02 and seventh in the 200 in 22.62. Kennedy senior Enoch Dablaka was 15th in the 100 with a personal record of 11.22 and classmate Yoonis Hashi was 20th in 11.33. In the 200 Hashi was 18th in 23.35, another personal record and Jaguars junior Abe Hughley was 20th in 23.37 while freshman teammate Braeden Hamilton was 23rd in 24.12.

    In the 400, it was Jefferson senior Ismail Ali with the top time of 52.01 to place ninth overall while Kennedy sophomore Braden Rhodes was 10th with a personal record of 52.30.

    Jefferson’s trio of juniors led the program in the 800 with Patrick Altstatt ninth in 2:04.02, Alexander Altstatt 16th in a personal record of 2:08.04 and Logan Young 22nd in 2:11.48.

    Jaguars seniors Ian Klein and Forrest Noeske competed in the 1,600 with Klein posting a personal record of 4:39.94 to place 10th Noeske was 15th in 4:45.79 and junior Miles Bassett was 18th in 4:50.86.

    In the 3,200, it was Jefferson junior Zachary Tapajna who finished ninth with a personal record of 10:06.58, Klein was 11th in 10:15.39 and Bassett was 14th in 10:48.82.

    Kennedy’s top performer at the meet was senior Jerrick Miller who placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in a personal record of 15.71.

    Jefferson senior Joshua Lunneborg was 14th in the 300 hurdles (44.88) and 16th in the 110 hurdles with a personal record of 18.81.

    Jefferson senior Ethan Ishaug was sixth in the pole vault clearing 12 feet. Junior teammate Anders Westanmo was eighth going over 11-0.

    Dablaka was 12th in the long jump going 19- 1 1/2 and Jefferson’s Daniel King was 14th at 19 feet. Kennedy senior Antonio Wendlandt was 20th clearing 18-4 1/2.

    Kennedy junior Ammar Elmustafa set a new personal record in the triple jump placing 12th with a leap of 39-2 1/2.

    In the girls’ events, Kennedy junior Daphne Such cleared the pole vault bar at 10 feet to place second and was fifth in the long jump going 16-0 1/2 for a new personal record. Jefferson junior Kaylynn Barnes was eighth with a season-best 15-4 3/4.

    Such was 11th in the 100 in a season-best 12.99 while Jefferson junior Alorah Czeskleba was sixth in 12.82.

    Jefferson junior Brooke Paetzel was sixth in the triple jump going 32-6 and eighth in the 100 hurdles with a personal record of 16.74. Barns was eighth in the 300 hurdles in a personal record of 50.25 and teammate Payton Lewis was 11th in 50.67. Barns was 13th in the 100 hurdles in 17.71.

    Jaguars sophomore Avery Rich was fourth in the 3,200 in a personal record of 11:42.73 and senior Maren Myers was 11th in 12:15.26. Sophomore Vivian Krhin was 12th in a season-best 12:17.43. In the 1,600 Krhin was seventh in 5:42.33 and senior Jamie Drewitz set a personal record of 5:43.08 to place eighth.

    Jefferson junior thrower Charlotte Bellmont set two new personal records, finishing 10th in the discus going 98-3, and 16th in the shot put with a distance of 30-0 1/2.

    Kennedy senior Latasha Carter also turned in personal records including a seventh-place throw in the discus of 103-8 and a 21st-place shot put of 28-8 1/2.

    In the relays, Jeferson’s 4x800 team placed second in 10:00.88 and the 4x100 relay was fifth in 51.54. Kennedy was seventh in the 4x100 relay in 52.29 and eighth in the 4x800 relay in 11:51.55. The Eagles 4x200 relay placed fifth in 51.54 and the Jaguars were seventh in 52.29.
