ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Water customers in the town of Rosedale should be prepared as utility officials have announced water service will be shut down completely for a day to allow repairs to be made to the system.

The shutdown will begin on Tuesday, May 28 at 10 a.m. and will last until the repairs are complete. An official at the Rosedale Town Hall said the contractor expects to be finished in the late afternoon/early evening. But that could change if complications arise.

With the planned shut off, the town is encouraging customers to be prepared by having water on hand ahead of time.

Once the repairs are complete and water service is restored, customers will be under a boil order for 48-hours.

A social media flyer notes the repairs are to repair leaky valves.

The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:

    • Fill a pot with water.
    • Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
    • Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
    • Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
    • Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
