A Peek into Summers County’s Past: Talcott Cash Store and Miller Mercantile Company
SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) - One of my favorite items in my vast collection is little antique local advertising pieces like you see here. They are usually something that was commonly used, so when you used them, you would think of the business it was advertising. The first item in this week's piece is a little flour sifter from the early 1930s from the Miller Mercantile Company. It was operated in a partnership by Hugh C. Miller, E. C. Miller and Mrs. Melvina Miller in Talcott, West Virginia. I have been unable to find out much about it other than it was a business that was in operation...

Friday begins drier with some sunshine but clouds are on the increase. By mid-morning scattered showers return from west to east. Temps aren’t hurt much with the mid 70s for afternoon highs. Showers and an isolated t-storm is likely for the late afternoon and early evening. Turning to Friday evening, heavy rain and thunderstorm downpours […]

Hot start to the week
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The pleasant and sunny weather we had from over the weekend will be sticking around today as high pressure sticks around. This will provide us with clear skies to start off our morning and sunny skies for our afternoon. A few areas of fog will be possible this morning, but the majority of the Mid-Ohio Valley will start off clear for the commute to work or school. With an easy-going day across the region, we will probably want to try to take advantage of the dry weather and try to get outside.

Baseball Recap: Deuce Rompon II can't quite lead PikeView over Charleston Catholic
If PikeView was riding high off their 11-1 takedown of WestSide last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The PikeView Panthers fell 11-8 to the Charleston Catholic Irish on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to PikeView of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.
