Old Time Revival coming to Alderson
ALDERSON W.Va. (Hinton News) - The old rough-sawn tabernacle at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church will be the revival site for the Alderson United Methodist Charge. The Alderson Charge is comprised of Johnson Memorial and Mt. Vernon United Methodist churches. The old tabernacle was constructed during the Depression of the 1930s to provide seating for huge crowds during summer revival services. Each summer the tabernacle provided space for services until the mid-1950s when services were discontinued. West Virginia American Water Awards Grants for Fire Protection
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia American Water recently announced that 29 agencies within its service areas will receive grant money for fire protection gear, equipment, and training. Among the recipients are two departments in Summers County: the Summers County Volunteer Fire Department and the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. The Jumping Branch-Nimitz department will use its grant to purchase two ratcheting fire hydrant wrenches, totaling $740.40. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department will allocate its $842.70 grant towards acquiring AED (automated external defibrillator) equipment. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department expressed their gratitude on Facebook, thanking American Water Company for the support. They also indicated that they will provide updates on how the grant funds are utilized in the future. The grants are part of West Virginia American Water’s ongoing efforts to support local fire departments and enhance emergency response capabilities across its service areas. West Virginia Jazz Orchestra performing two Labor Day concerts Sept. 1-2
GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (Hinton News) - The West Virginia Jazz Orchestra will be performing two Labor Day Observance concerts. The first concert will be on Sunday, September 1, at 5 p.m. at the newly opened Country Roads Beer Inc. in White Sulphur Springs. Warner announces nearly $1 million in Election Security Grants approved by the WV State Election Commission
Charleston, W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Monday, West Virginia’s State Election Commission (SEC) approved the latest round of Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grant applications filed by counties to further bolster election security and purchase new equipment. The bipartisan SEC voted unanimously on Monday to distribute $970,000 of grant money between all 24 counties that applied this grant cycle.
