ROCKY FORD, Colo. ( KXRM ) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said the body of a missing boy last seen on Saturday has been found in the canal that runs behind his home.

According to CBI, 3-year-old Amari Galan was last seen at 4 a.m. in the 900 block of Washington Street in Rocky Ford. It was reported that Galan was a child with special needs and left his home on foot wearing only a diaper.

Investigators from multiple agencies searched the area and soon focused their search on the Catlin Canal that runs behind the home.

Search and rescue personnel searched the canal banks by foot and found a body several miles downstream at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Otero County Coroner was called to the scene, and he confirmed the identity of the body with the family.

“Law enforcement wishes to share its condolences with the family of Amari Galan,” wrote CBI.
