ROCKFORD — Danielle Franz, Aislynn Palmer and Kaelyn Kelly formed quite the wrecking crew Wednesday night against Rockford Jefferson.

The trio combined for nine hits, nine runs and 11 runs batted in as Hononegah rolled over the J-Hawks 16-0 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Franz hit a pair of home runs and a double, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs. She accounted for 10 total bases. Palmer had a double and a homer and was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and five RBIs. Kelly was also 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI.

Hononegah improved to 11-0 in NIC-10 play, 17-1 overall and won its 16th straight game.

The Indians scored twice in the first inning, six in the second, four in the third and four more in the fifth, amassing 19 hits. Twelve different Indians collected hits.

Starting pitcher Zoey Calhoun pitched two scoreless and hitless innings. Emma Tapia allowed two hits in two scoreless innings and Sam Nosbisch allowed one hit in a scoreless fifth.

    • NORTH BOONE 19, ROCKFORD LUTHERAN 1: The visiting Vikings (18-3) hammered out 15 hits, including a homer by Cami Carter, in the four-inning rout.

Danielle Goodman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs. Sydney Goodman also had a big day, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBIs.

Winning pitcher Camdyn Hall allowed one hit and one unearned run, walking none and striking out seven.

    • BIG FOOT 12, EVANSVILLE 1: Lilly Wolf smashed two home runs and a triple while Natalie Klamm contributed a blast of her own as the Chiefs made quick work of the Blue Devils in five innings.

Big Foot (7-2, 9-4 RVC Rock) poured on six runs in the third and four in the fourth as it outhit Evansville (3-10, 0-9) 13-4.

Wolf hit a two-run homer and Holly Kynell smacked a one-run double in the big third.

Wolf started the fourth off with a solo bomb before Klamm later hit a two-run homer. Wolf went 4-for-4 on the day while Kate Hummel went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Mylee Walter also contributed two hits.

Ella Kinane started for Big Foot an allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out five in 3 1-3 innings.

    • JOHNSON CREEK 22, CLINTON 11: If offense is your thing, the Johnson Creek High School softball diamond was the place for you Wednesday afternoon.

The host Bluejays and Cougars combined for 33 runs in five innings in a nonconference matchup.

Jenna Fincutter led the charge for Creek, hitting for a cycle that included two home runs and five hits total. She drove in seven of her team’s runs. Creek’s Hailey Kvalheim also hit two homers and drove in four. Every Bluejay had at least one hit and one RBI.

The Cougars actually led 11-10 going to the bottom of the fifth inning before Creek blew up for a dozen game-ending runs in its half of the frame.

The top four in Clinton’s lineup all collected at least two hits. Jordi Morrison went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Ashley Theisen was 2 for 2 and scored two runs, Allie Bell was 3 for 4 and drove in six, and London Winch was 2 for 4 with two RBI.

All that went for naught when the Bluejays went nuclear in the bottom of the fifth, laying waste to every pitch they saw. In the process of scoring 12 runs in that inning, they made just one out.

    • BASEBALL: HONONEGAH 16, HARLEM 1: After outscoring Rockford East and Rockford Auburn, two squads at the bottom of the NIC-10, 82-1 in a pair of series over the past three weeks, the Indians probably were looking forward to some tough play from the fourth-place Huskies.

Instead, NIC-10 leading Hononegah (11-0, 17-5) routed Harlem (7-4, 11-9) 16-1 in four innings at Weber Field.

The Indians scored three runs in the first and third innings while plating five runs in the second and fourth.

Austin Dresser, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, and Cameron Nelson both cracked home runs while Landen Seymour went 4-for-4 with four runs and three doubles. Drake Broege had two hits and four RBI while Evan Sayles added two hits and two RBI as Hononegah outhit the Huskies 16-3.

Nolan Mabie threw all four innings and allowed three hits and an earned run with two strikeouts.
