Monroe zoning decision delivers a blow to plan for 84 apartments

MONROE, Conn. — A controversial plan to build 84 apartments at 1-15 Main St., near the Trumbull border, received a blow Thursday, when the Planning and Zoning Commission denied a text amendment application that would have allowed a multifamily use on two-or-more acres, rather than on a minimum of 15, on properties within one mile of the intersection of Route 111 and the Route 25 Connector.

Blasius Auto Group closes Brookfield and Torrington dealerships

The Blasius Auto Group is in the process of closing two dealerships, a spokesman for the Waterbury-based company said. The group is closing its Mitsubishi dealership in Brookfield and its used-car dealership in Torrington, according to Bill Palomba, the group's marketing director. He said the stores had not performed as well as the company had hoped when they opened.
