The most notable damage was along and around Pond Lane, where two homes still had trees inside them on Monday afternoon. Other homes in the immediate vicinity also appeared to have extensive amounts of tarp on their roofs.
Nearly every home in that area also had some sort of remnant of Saturday’s storms, which included downed trees, limbs, and power lines.
“[The hail] broke the window in my room,” said Jasmine Alvarez, who was spared the worst of the damage.
A neighbor’s trampoline, however, managed to fly over her and her husband’s fence and onto her property, where it still remained Monday afternoon.
Arguably, the worst damage appeared to be a couple of miles away along Rockwood Avenue, where Kirk Douglas said he had to get out of his home through a window after a tree fell on his home, splitting his home in two.
“[The wind] lifted the tree up out of the ground and was cracking and making noise,” he said. “By the time I got up, it just came down.”
The National Weather Service said that the storm was at the higher end of what would be classified as a severe thunderstorm warning, with winds of 60 to 90 mph.
Meteorologists noted the unusual nature of this storm system, noting that what happened Saturday afternoon is rare for this area.
