Weddington, N.C. — Weddington is the reigning runner-up in the 4A West region. The Warriors fell in a 28-27 thriller against Grimsley. The good news is that 2022 Weddington team that came up just short of a championship appearance was loaded with young talent. The Warriors return a total of 15 starters from last season. Further, many of those starters play in key spots. Here's a report of what I learned at one of the Warriors' spring practices.

HARTSVILLE – In less than a 24-hour period, the Catawba Ridge Copperheads were able to accomplish a rare feat by winning two state championships. The Catawba Ridge baseball team beat the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs 7-3 in game three at Jimmy White Park in Hartsville Friday night to win the 4A state baseball championship. The state clinching game came about 22 hours after the school’s first state title was clinched by the softball team in Florence on Thursday, May 25.
