ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) The Times Square Building, designed by Ralph Walker and built-in 1929 (the cornerstone was added on Black Tuesday) was just added to the National Register of Historic Places!

Management for the building made the announcement Thursday.

The Art Deco-styled building, first the home of Genesee Valley Union Trust, is known for its “Wings of Progress” — now fittingly also the home of the Falcon Cam — decoration adorning the top.

The main lobby is filled with original marble, decorations, and wheat symbols representing Rochester’s time as “The Flour City,” as well as the original conference room has been preserved as well.

As for the honor, a plaque is now outside, and one of the partners of the building, Rich Calabrese was beaming at both at the architecture and the people there.

“As Ralph Walker said, back in 1929, a skyscraper is not just a building, but a city,” he said. “It is a community, in which everyone knows everyone, and they work together. They’re social together, and I’m very proud of that.”
