ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – What a day! Behind a cold front, today’s temperatures only took a slight step back, climbing into the upper 60s and 70s. Skies will remain mostly clear tonight as temperatures trickle toward the 50 degree mark. There is at least a slight chance the northern lights could dance tonight.

Our Friday (at least during the day) will remain dry as we introduce increasing cloud cover with time. Still, I expect pockets of sunshine to remain into the afternoon, which will allow temperatures to surge well into the 70s and perhaps even kiss 80° in a few spots. We’re waiting on an axis of increasing moisture to our west that will begin to spit out rain Friday night. This system is in no hurry and will keep at least scattered rain and rumbles in the forecast both Saturday and Sunday. It won’t rain steadily through the weekend, so we’ll be using the next 24 hours to try and fine tune where those breaks in the action will develop.
