Taxi driver shot and killed during carjacking on Bay Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A taxi driver was found dead following a carjacking on Bay Street early Monday morning, according to the Rochester Police Department.

Police identified the victim Monday evening as David Treese III, 45.

Officers said a driver found Treese on the side of the road and called 911 at 4:18 a.m. He had at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Treese was an on-duty taxi driver. Investigators said it appears he was shot and had his vehicle stolen. The vehicle was found abandoned on Central Park.

This is the third homicide to happen over the weekend. The first happened due to a deadly shooting on Day Place on Sunday and the second happened that very evening on South Clinton Avenue.
