ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Today students in the Rochester City School District got to be their own advocates, presenting their ideas on how to improve city schools.

This was part of the district’s shark-tank presentation initiative in which students are tasked with presenting their ideas.

Ruth Turner, the Deputy Superintendent of the Rochester City School District said, “It’s very important. You know, we have to do a better job of not only valuing but hearing and doing what our students ask us to do. They’re the experts in terms of what they need and we really value their feedback and experience and we want to be super supportive of their needs.”

If approved it will be funded and put into action. School officials say that their goal is to empower their students — and give them a platform to voice what matters most to them.
