Weather forecast: Next round of rain on the way

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Piggybacking off a lovely Monday, Tuesday has shined across WNY. A thin layer of high clouds masks an otherwise clear sky as we head into the evening hours. That same thin layer of clouds may come into play after dark as we watch for at least some potential to view the northern lights tonight.

Approaching low pressure will begin to influence our forecast in the form of rain Wednesday, especially beyond morning. This won’t be a soaker of a day, rather one that will feature several rounds/waves of showers passing through. A risk for severe thunderstorms could develop to our west into Ohio later in the day. It remains unlikely they’ll maintain their intensity as they approach into the early night. Something to monitor, but the timing appears favorable for a general weakening trend upon approach.

A few leftover Thursday showers will linger, but much of the day will stay dry. Friday features another round of showers before cooler and relatively drier air take over into the weekend. Early indications suggest Sunday is more promising than Saturday if you’re looking for sunshine.
