Free bus rides in Rochester to beat extreme heat this weekend
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochester Public Transit is offering free rides this weekend as extreme heat moves into the area. The transit system activated its "Cool Place to Be" program starting Saturday, July 25 through Monday, July 27. The program runs from the start of service through the end of service each day.

Rochester bus driver earns 2nd at Minnesota Bus Roadeo
ROCHESTER, Minn. — A Rochester bus operator took second place in the Large Bus category at Minnesota's 39th Annual Statewide Bus Roadeo on July 18. Chris Daniels, a 32-year veteran with Rochester Public Transit, competed at the Carver Park & Ride in Carver. The Minnesota Public Transit Association hosts the annual event, which brings together the state's top bus operators and maintenance professionals to strengthen safety practices and build new skills.

Rochester parking lots closing Friday 24 for repairs
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Two downtown Rochester parking lots will close for a week starting Friday for maintenance work. The city is moving into the next phase of planned maintenance at the Armory Lot on Broadway Avenue North and 2nd Street Northwest and the Power Plant Parking Lot on West Silver Lake Drive Northeast and Civic Center Drive Northeast. Workers will chip seal, fog seal and restripe both lots.

Hwy 218 bridge in Austin reaches key milestone in final year of project
AUSTIN, Minn. — Crews wrapped up pouring concrete for the Highway 218 North/14th Street Northwest bridge early Friday morning after about five hours of work. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says workers poured 20 yards of concrete for the bridge, marking another milestone in the final year of this three-year project.
