ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — This summer Lincoln Trail College will be offering multiple dance camps over the month of July for students ages 14-18. Each Class will be teaching not only the dance style itself but also learn the history about the dance.

The first of these camps will be held on July 13 on musical theater choreography and will be taught by Jessica Cheeseman, color guard coach for Robinson High School. Cheeseman has also taken Winterguard International courses in dance technique, floor movement, visual display, and flag/rifle technique. She has also choreographed 10 different productions at Robinson High School and Lincoln Trail College.

Next up on July 20 Keegan Tucker will be teaching all about jazz. Tucker has been dancing since a young age, primarily jazz and tap, and started choreographing shows in his sophomore in high school. Over the last 6 years he has been primary choreographer for Olney Central College, and has taken dance classes with Broadway’s Ryan Steele (Newsies, An American in Paris) and Tony Nominee Robyn Hurder (Moulin Rouge, A Beautiful Noise).

Wrapping up the three will be Lincoln “Jake” Wright teaching modern dance on July 27. Wright has over 15 years of musical theater experience and has been doing choreography since his senior year of high school. Wright has had multiple leading roles in South Bend and Indianapolis and is now a lead choreographer.

Each camp will run from 12-4 p.m. and each costs $20. Students that are interested can register by visiting the Learning Commons at LTC and can register for as many or as few classes as they want.
