Haley Toyota hosts 8th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
ROANOKE, Va. – Hundreds of law enforcement officers in the Roanoke Valley were honored on Friday during the 8th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Haley Toyota and Exalted Church teamed up to put on the event. Organizers served up burgers, hot dogs, jambalaya, and dessert to more than 400 first responders.
Specialty pediatric clinic opens at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – The Carilion New River Valley Medical Center Pediatric Specialty Clinic is officially open. “This is a culmination of a tremendous amount of work over the past several years to integrate our pediatric specialty services into the New River Valley to be able to support the patients here,” said Amy Kageals, senior director for Carilion Children’s outpatient services.
Rocky Mount Firefighter completes 75th year of service
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR)– A Rocky Mount Firefighter recently completed his 75th year with the Rocky Mount Fire Department. In a post on Facebook, the fire department highlighted Burton ‘Spike’ Pugh, who has served the area and community since 1949. He continues to actively participate in department meetings, training, and special events, with RMFD celebrating how valuable he has been to the community, his peers, and the department over the last three-quarters of a century.

Roanoke allocated additional $5.4 million to increase first responder salaries
ROANOKE, Va. – This fiscal year, the City of Roanoke is investing an additional $5.4 million towards salary raises for first responders. In the city budget approved on Monday by City Council, it included a raise for the Roanoke Police Department, Roanoke Sheriff’s Office and Roanoke Fire-EMS Department.
