Grocery prices drop for first time in a year, but shoppers not seeing relief at register
ROANOKE, Va. – Nowadays, a trip to the grocery store can cost hundreds and you’re likely leaving with less. For the first time in a year, inflation data shows that grocery prices have dropped. According to the latest Consumer Index Report, grocery prices fell by 0.2 percent from March to April. The price of meats, poultry, fish, eggs, fruits, and vegetables all dropped in April. The price of cereals, bakery products and dairy increased.

The countdown is on for the 10th anniversary of the Cross-Regional Entrepreneurial Expo and Gauntlet awards ceremony. The Gauntlet is Virginia’s largest business program and competition. ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — One person has been hospitalized after an early-morning shooting, and the suspect is still at large, according to the Roanoke Police Department. Roanoke 7-Eleven clerk sentenced to 20 years in prison after 2023 shooting
ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—Court documents showed the 7-Eleven store clerk who shot and killed a customer in April 2023, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday, May 16. On April 16, 2023, officers responded to the 7-Eleven on the 1400 block of Gardin Road SW and found an adult man, later identified as Steven Don Crowder, lying unresponsive with a critical gunshot wound. Police pronounced Crowder dead at the scene.

A federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 which was unsealed earlier today, charging Owen Jarboe, age 18, of Hagerstown, Maryland, Evan Strauss, age 26, of Moneta, Virginia, and Brayden Grace, age 18, of Columbus, Ohio, with conspiracy, cyberstalking, interstate threatening communications, and threats to damage or destroy by means of fire and explosives.
