First steel support beams erected on Scout Motors construction site
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Scout Motors announced its production center in Blythewood erected the first steel support beams on Wednesday. Officials said this marks another milestone in building the electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The construction involved moving more than 4 million cubic yards of dirt to ensure a flat surface pad for future structures.

Richland School District seniors named 2024 National Merit Scholarship winners
Richland School District Two students Eva Deanne Pendleton and Ava J. Phelps have risen to the top of a talent pool of 15,000 outstanding finalists to be named 2024 National Merit Scholarship winners. Eva, a Blythewood High School senior, and Ava, a Spring Valley High School senior, will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Early morning storms cause Fairfield County school delays, damage in Midlands
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Severe storms moving through the state overnight has caused some trouble Thursday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, Fairfield County School District is on a two-hour delay. Students and staff should report two hours later as there are unconfirmed reports of tornado damage in the Ridgeway area. Trees are down and there have been areas of power outages reported. There was a tornado warning issued for that area earlier this morning.
