Police Week highlights dangerous shortage of Poughkeepsie cops
POUGHKEEPSIE – President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. In the City of Poughkeepsie, the week calls attention to the shortage of police officers which several cops have called “dangerously low”.

NEW PALTZ – Five graduation ceremonies have been planned for this coming weekend at SUNY New Paltz, all to be held indoors at the Athletic & Wellness Center. Typically, the ceremonies are held outdoors, but this year, the graduate commencement ceremony on Friday and the four undergraduate ceremonies – two each on Saturday and Sunday – will be held indoors.
