RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Ridgewood Village Council received a presentation from "Boxcar," a commuter service the village plans on contracting to install a kiosk on the Ridgewood station platform. The kiosk will sell coffee, tea, newspapers and snacks from local Ridgewood vendors.

Boxcar Chief Executive Officer Joe anticipated that the kiosk could then expand towards providing other services, such as a dry cleaning drop off to assist commuters. It would be installed in a presently unoccupied space on the platform.

Councilmember Siobahnn Winograd was particularly effusive in her support of this contract, making use of a vacant space to simultaneously generate income for the village whilst providing a much-needed service for Ridgewood commuters. "When my kids were young, coffee was a huge part of my commute" she commented. "The amenity rich part of this is so attractive. I think it is great. It will provide more revenue than we have been getting [from the vacant space], which is zero, and if you are a commuter, I think that it is an amenity that people will be excited about."

"We are happy to provide a wonderful service to our village residents, who commute," added Mayor Paul Vagianos. "Who, I am sure, have been missing a cup of coffee and a danish in the morning. I think this is really terrific."

There was consensus from the council to move forward with the contract negotiations.
