Soda City is a dog-friendly market, and on Saturday, dogs of all ages, sizes and costumes walked beside their owners through the market. What's being built on Columbia's Garners Ferry? A popular restaurant is coming

A popular Midlands Mexican restaurant is constructing a new location along a busy Columbia Road. Tacos Nayarit, which already has two local locations, is building a restaurant at 7335 Garners Ferry Road. That’s just east of Interstate 77. The Mexican restaurant will be on land that formerly was home to a Shoney’s restaurant, which closed last year . The Shoney’s building was demolished, and construction work has begun on what will be the new Tacos Nayarit. The State reported in February that Tacos Nayarit’s owners had purchased the property. Tacos Nayarit touted the coming Garners Ferry Road location in an Oct. 28 Facebook post. The post indicated the restaurant will open there in spring 2027. Tacos Nayarit has long had a popular restaurant on Percival Road in Columbia. It debuted a second location at 1100 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce in April 2025. The menu at Tacos Nayarit has offerings including birria tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas and much more.

This Halloween falls on a Saturday, and spooky celebrants are sure to be out at parties and events across the Myrtle Beach area. For those planning to imbibe this weekend, here’s what to know about alcohol and open container laws in the Grand Strand. Grand Strand areas that allow open containers Every October, Conway transforms into the City of Halloween with creepy decorations and spooky events. During the celebration, pedestrians are permitted to carry beer and wine – but not hard liquor – in non-glass containers on city sidewalks and property downtown. Halloween revelers can also walk around with open containers of alcohol at the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk. Although Georgetown County generally bans the consumption of alcohol on streets, roads, sidewalks and county-owned and operated property without a special event permit, the Marshwalk is an exception. Patrons on the half-mile inlet boardwalk can bring open containers of alcohol between establishments. Halloween alcohol restrictions around Myrtle Beach Elsewhere across the Grand Strand, alcohol consumption is limited to private dwellings and licensed establishments. That includes beaches.
