CAROLINE COUNTY — On Friday, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Facebook updating the public on the collaborative agreement reached between the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Ridgely and the County Commissioners.

The agreement underscores the safety and welfare of Ridgely’s residents and businesses after the temporary suspension of the municipal police department earlier this month.

The sheriff’s office emphasized five key points of the agreement in their statement.

    • Increased Patrols: More officers on duty for faster responses and proactive policing, including an additional 35 hours per week beyond regular patrol hours.

    • Prompt Emergency Response: Deputies available for emergencies.

    • Community Engagement: Actively involving residents and businesses to foster trust.

    • Oversight and Accountability: Regular evaluations to assess performance.

    • Transparent Communication: Keeping residents informed about law enforcement activities.

This agreement takes effect on April 1, 2024
