Cumberland Couple Arrested After Assault and Stabbing Escalate Domestic Dispute
CUMBERLAND, MD – Yesterday, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to the 100 block of Springdale Street following a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered Keith Shoemaker with serious injuries. Further investigation revealed that Keith and his wife, Kelly Shoemaker, had been involved in a heated argument that turned physical, with Kelly stabbing Keith twice during the altercation. Kelly was subsequently arrested on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. In a surprising turn of events, Keith became enraged and started to assault the arresting officers. Armed South End man jailed after incident with neighbor
Mar. 21—CUMBERLAND — A city man remained jailed Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a handgun and threatened his neighbor, according to Cumberland Police. Mario Alexander Caperna, 63, was taken into custody Monday on first-degree assault and reckless endangerment charges before he was ordered confined to the Allegany County Detention Center without bail, pending bond review by a judge.

Woman Arrested for Assault and Threatening with Knife in Cumberland
CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND – Yesterday, Cumberland Police arrested 57-year-old Donna Michelle Herring after responding to a disturbance at an establishment on Valley Street. Herring allegedly brandished a knife and threatened to stab a victim during the altercation. She was charged with Assault -1st Degree, Assault-2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct, and Intoxicated Public Disturbance. Firefighters battle blaze at vacant home in McCoole
MCOOLE, MD – The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire at an abandoned home in McCoole. The fire broke shortly after sunrise. Multiple fire companies from the region reported. Maryland State Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Garrett County
GRANTVILLE, MD – Brandy Jo McKenzie, a 37-year-old woman from Oakland, Maryland, died in a two-vehicle crash in Garrett County yesterday morning. According to the Maryland State Police, the driver of a Ford Taurus, McKenzie, was traveling north on MD Route 495 when for unknown reasons, she entered the southbound lane after exiting a right-hand curve and struck a Ram 1500. The crash caused the Taurus to catch fire, which spread to the front of the Ram. The driver of the Ram refused medical treatment on the scene.
