Wildfire quietly grows to more than 5,000 acres in southwest Colorado
A fire that sparked in Colorado on May 14 has quietly grown to more than 5,000 acres over recent days. According to InciWeb, the Spruce Creek Fire has burned 5,699 acres roughly 11 miles northeast of Dolores at last report – up from a Thursday report of 4,962 acres being burned by the blaze. No evacuation orders have been issued at this time. The Town of Dolores is located in southwest Colorado, about 36 miles northwest of Durango. At last report, the fire was at 38 percent containment. Firefighters have been able to successfully use Forest Service Roads as firelines, with more than 170 personnel involved in fighting the blaze. Find additional information here. Spruce Creek Fire grows overnight
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Fire officials report that the Spruce Creek fire to has grown more than 1600 acres in size. The wildfire, burning on Haycamp Mesa 11 miles northeast of Dolores, started May 14 and initially consumed just 10 acres of Ponderosa pine forest. As of Thursday May 23rd, the fire, originally sparked by lighting, has covered 4,962 acres total. Over 179 firefighters and public safety officials have responded to the fire, which includes two hotshot crews and multiple fire engines from Wyoming and Montana.

Four Seasons project in MV rolls out property sales
Last fall, two prominent Florida real estate developers Fort Partners and Merrimac Ventures announced a $1 billion Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences (FSH) project in Mountain Village (MV), the largest development of its kind in the Telluride region. “We were very optimistic from the outset, but we’re surprised by how much interest there is in this project as we’ve rolled it out,” said Brian O’Neill, director of the O’Neill Stetina Group.
