    Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for several Richmond-area counties

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for some Richmond-area counties.

    On Friday, May 24, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for south central Caroline County, northwestern King William County and southeastern Hanover County.

    According to the National Weather Service, the warning will be in effect until 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

    At 3:25 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Hanover County, about nine miles north of Mechanicsville, moving southeast at 10 mph.

    According to the National Weather Service, hazards such as 60 mph wind gusts, quarter-size hail, as well as minor damage to vehicles, trees and powerlines are possible.
