Prep Wrestling Update – December 11th, 2023
ALL SEASON LONG RESULTS OF DUALS AND TOURNAMENTS. UPCOMING SCHEDULES OF EVENTS AND STATE RATINGS. The Jaguars defeated Border West 46-12 and they were defeated by the No. 3AA ranked Dawson-Boyd United 38-28. Noah Welte (114), Ryan Jensen (145), Brett DeRoo (160) and Max Hanson (189) all went 2-0. The Jaguars earned second place with 176.5 points and twelve medal at the Grant County “Knights” Invitational in this field of ten teams. The Jaguars earned three championship medals by Ryan Jensen (139), Maximus Hanson (172) and Carson Gilbert (215). Brett DeRoo (152), Ethan Mueller (160) and Hunter Laage (189) all earned second place medals. Noah Welte (114) and Tanner Viessman (152) both earned third place medals. Aiden Mueller (121) and Harley Weber (285) both earned fourth place and Dylan Koob (127) and Andrew Spanier (145) both took sixth place.

Kirkwood runner Sadie Smith added another first-place finish to her marathon journey when she broke the tape at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on Sunday, Dec. 3. Wildcats Fall To Columbia In Double Overtime…Prep Boys Basketball
The Salem Wildcats fell at home to visiting Columbia 44-40 in double overtime last night at B.E. Gum. Columbia had a shot at the buzzer at the end of regulation but couldn’t get the go ahead bucket. Salem trailed by 3 in the 2nd overtime with 3 seconds left but missed 2 of 3 free throws and the Eagles Sam Donald finished off the game hitting 2 free throws to ice it. Donald struggled from the field but the 6-8 guard still finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. The Cats struggled from the free throw line as a team shooting just 6 of 12 while the Eagles made 12 of 16. Salem out rebounded the Eagles 20-19. Noah Nix led Salem with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Connor Tennyson added 8 and Sam Greene finished with 6. Salem falls to 2-7 on the season and 0-2 in the Cahokia as they get set to host Olney on Tuesday.
