2 injured after tornado rips into RV in northeast Kansas

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The National Weather Service ( NWS ) is reporting damage from two EF-1 tornadoes that hit parts of northeast Kansas Tuesday.

The NWS announced on social media that an EF-1 tornado touched down just after 6 a.m. four miles west-southwest of Overbrook. It moved north-northeast for 10 miles, hitting the town of Richland and reached wind speeds up to 100 mph. The tornado ended just before 6:30 a.m.

Two people were reportedly injured in the tornado when the RV they were in flipped over in Osage County. A 27 News reporter visited this site and spoke with friends and family of the wounded at an address in the 3100 block of E 173rd Street.

The NWS confirmed a second EF-1 tornado touched down at 5:51 a.m. in Osage County just north of Eisenhower State Park on April 16, according to a social media post. It was on the ground for six minutes, traveling 3.5 miles and reached wind speeds up to 110 mph, damaging mostly trees in the central parts of the county. One home recorded light damage due to this tornado.

Damage is being reported in Osage and Shawnee Counties to homes and property following severe weather and a reported tornado.
