The Rice Lake baseball team ended its five-game losing streak in winning one of two games played Saturday at Baldwin. The Warriors defeated Eleva-Strum but fell to Baldwin-Woodville. Rice Lake is scheduled to host River Falls on Tuesday and heads to River Falls on Thursday.

A four-run eighth inning guided the Warriors past the Cardinals in extra innings in their first game on Saturday.

Eleva-Strum had scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game but Rice Lake had a response. Kalvin Kelsey tripled to drive in the first run of eight, and then Lucas Roux and Brady Musil later hit back-to-back doubles for the 11-7 advantage. The Cardinals pushed a run across in the bottom of the eighth after a Warrior error but Rice Lake held on to stop its streak of five losses, which included four by one run.

Kelsey went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Roux and Musil each had two hits, with Roux plating three and scoring three runs.

Rice Lake stole eight bases in the win, including two apiece from Jack Larson and Aaron Hoffman.

The Warriors had a 4-3 advantage but the Blackhawks scored six unanswered runs to pick up the win.

Rice Lake scored all four of its runs in the second. Tanner Koltunski had drawn a two-out walk and stole second. He then stole third and scored on an error from the catcher. Two walks and another error then filled the bases for Hoffman. He then lined a double to right field to bring in all three runners.

Hoffman finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Rice Lake was held to three hits with Grant Roux getting the other base hit. Lucas Roux pitched two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts.
