Folsom Cordova Unified Facility Improvement Advisory Committee recommends cost cutting for 2 new schools
New schools should not be "portables," and a district-wide bond measure may be needed to fund future sites in new Folsom Ranch south of Highway 50, officials said last week. So says the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District School Facility Improvement District 3 Advisory Committee, which briefed the FCUSD Board of Trustees on May 2. The committee made recommendations to the school board on cost-cutting measures to get two schools built quickly in fast-growing Folsom Ranch. The cities of Folsom and Rancho Cordova share Measure M funding in FCUSD School Facility Improvement District 3, which stretches south of 50 west from Folsom Ranch to Sunrise Boulevard. Passed in 2007, there is still $545 million in remaining Measure M funds as of last December, staff said.
‘CHiPs’ star Erik Estrada to visit Red Bus Brewing Company in Folsom
FOLSOM, Calif. — Erik Estrada, best known for his role as Officer Frank “Ponch” Poncherello in “CHiPs,” will visit a Folsom brewery in June. SACRAMENTO – Officials say two people have died after a house fire in south Sacramento late Wednesday morning. Sacramento Fire crews arrived at the scene just before 11 a.m. along Niantic Way, off 21st Street, and found a heavy fire at the back of the single-story home and smoke coming from the front.Firefighters say one person was found dead inside the home. New Folsom Cordova Unified superintendent rises from pool of 36 candidates
Erik Swanson is the new Folsom Cordova Unified School District Superintendent, the district announced May 3. The FCUSD Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract with Swanson at the May 2 meeting, said FCUSD spokesperson Robin Mandeville. The new chief will take office July 1. Current Superintendent Dr. Sarah Koligian announced her retirement earlier this year and will continue until the end of the fiscal year.
