A Nevada man in his 60s died April 7, at Reveille Peak Ranch, during the time the venue was hosting the Texas Eclipse Festival.

Officials say the man was reportedly on a hike with other people when he suffered a “medical issue.” The death occurred at the height of the event coordinated to celebrate the total solar eclipse April 8.

According to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the incident occurred at 4 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

“The call specified that there was an unresponsive 67-year-old male on a trail,” said BCSO Capt. Tom Dillard, in a media release. “Upon arrival, BCSO deputies took over CPR from others at the scene and ultimately turned over medical care to the festival medical personnel.

Cassie Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.

“The patient was transferred to the care of Cassie VFD and then to Careflight air ambulance to Seton – Williamson County,” Dillard continued. “Once there, the patient, Mr. Timothy Randolph of Reno, Nev., was pronounced dead.”

An autopsy was ordered by Williamson County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Angela Williams.

Results of an autopsy are pending from Hill Country Forensics in Georgetown.

“Relatives of the deceased revealed that he had been complaining of fatigue earlier in the day,” Dillard stated. “No foul play is suspected and this incident is being documented as a medical issue.”

The festival, which occurred on the grounds of the venue over the weekend, continued after the reported death.

However, the next day, April 8, concerns about severe weather prompted venue officials to halt the event.
