Motorcyclist dies after crash with dump truck in Reidsville, troopers say

REIDSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A man on a motorcycle died after a crash on Saturday involving a dump truck, according to a State Highway Patrol news release.

At 5:13 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a crash on East Morehead Street near US-158 in Rockingham County.

A 51-year-old Burlington man was going south on East Morehead Street in a 2020 Ram 5500 dump truck.

Daniel Vazquez, 44, of Keeling, Va., was going north on East Morehead Street in a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle. Vazquez went left of center in a curve and hit the side of the dump truck.

The dump truck driver and a front-seat passenger in his vehicle were not hurt in the crash.

Vazquez suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital where he died.

East Morehead Street near US-158 was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene at 8:28 p.m.
