    Redwood City Safeway robbery suspects arrested

    ( KRON ) — Two teenagers were arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a Safeway store on Sunday afternoon, according to the Redwood City Police Department. Police were dispatched to the Safeway Sequoia Station location at 12:44 p.m. on a report of armed robbery.

    Employees at the store told police that one of the suspects brandished a handgun while stealing alcohol. Officers disseminated a surveillance photo of the suspects to assisting units that began circulating the area, police said.

    Two suspects matching the description were located in a parking garage at 750 Marshall Street. The suspects were identified as Walter GonzalezHernandez, 18, of Redwood City and a 17-year-old boy, who was also a Redwood City resident.

    Officers found a lighter that resembled a handgun on GonzalezHernandez’s person.

    GonzalezHernandez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery and conspiracy charges. The boy was booked at the San Mateo County Youth Services Center on the same charges.
