Danville’s Nickiya Shields was a double winner and qualified for state in a third individual event to help the Vikings finish fifth as a team at Thursday’s Class 3A sectional. Shields won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.68 seconds and added a win in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet, 7 inches. She also placed seventh in a fast finals in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.05 seconds to top the qualifying time. Centennial’s Noelle Hunt won the long jump at 17-6 for the Chargers, who finished seventh as a team. Champaign Central was 10th but had a double qualifier in Isabella Roundtree, who finished third in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.02 seconds and 25.42 seconds, respectively.

SEMO Softball beats Eastern Illinois to win OVC Tournament
PEORIA, Ill. (KFVS) - The SEMO Softball team defeated top-seeded Eastern Illinois 4-2 Saturday in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship in Peoria, Illinois.
