Five People Arrested at Checkpoint on Suspicion of DUI
Five people were arrested during two DUI checkpoints in Riverside County, authorities said Saturday. The first checkpoint was conducted from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. in Temecula near the intersection of Rancho California and Margarita Roads. A total of 872 vehicles were contacted and three people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Firefighters contain fast-growing brush fire in Banning
Riverside County firefighters needed more than 10 hours to clear a containment line of vegetation around a 34-acre brush fire in Banning, authorities said Sunday. The fire was reported around noon Saturday near the intersection of Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Shirleon Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A man was detained by authorities for his alleged involvement in shooting and killing another man in Homeland, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials said Monday. Woman fatally struck in roadway in Riverside by hit-and-run driver
Police in Riverside Sunday continued their investigation into a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian.The crash was reported around 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the area of Kansas Avenue and Roberta Street where a pedestrian was found laying in the middle of the roadway. When first responders arrived, they attempted life-saving measures but the victim died at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by a car traveling southbound on Kansas Avenue and failed to stop. The identity of the pedestrian has been withheld pending notification of loved ones. Two Killed in Wildomar Crash
Two people were killed Monday morning when they were ejected from a vehicle during a crash in the Wildomar area of Riverside County between Lake Elsinore and Murrieta. The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 12:36 a.m. and happened on the southbound Temecula Valley (15) Freeway just north of Bundy Canyon Road.
