Classic City Creamery Facade Rennovation
Tony Belton, owner of Classic City Creamery, 119 E. 9th Street took advantage of the Auburn Main Street Façade Program to brighten the outside of the ice cream shop with new signage. The colorful lit sign was installed in September and final grant dollars were approved by the Auburn Redevelopment Commission at its October meeting. The grant dollars paid for half of the $5,206.40 improvement to the building. This is the second time Belton has taken advantage of the program which is a partnership between the City of Auburn, Auburn Redevelopment Commission and Auburn Main Street.Belton said he is hoping to utilize grant dollars again in 2027 as he looks to potentially paint the outside of the building. The façade grant program provides funding to assist local business owners with repairs and renovations of the exterior of those buildings 50 years and older located within the city’s Economic Revitalization Area.Business owners are eligible for $15,000 in matching grant monies per application, unless the project meets qualifying amounts for larger projects. Those larger amounts are considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the project. The Auburn Redevelopment Commission earmarks $100,000 a year for the Façade Grant program.
