Muncie woman again arrested after Drug Task Force investigation
MUNCIE, IN — For a second time this year, a Muncie woman has been arrested after an investigation by the Muncie-Delaware County Drug Task Force. Ashley Kay Alenne Atkinson, 36, was taken into custody on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 5, on suspicion of dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison. According to an affidavit, task force members learned from "a reliable and confidential source" that Atkinson was using a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado to distribute narcotics "in and around Muncie." Investigators used Flock cameras to monitor the travels of that pickup truck, and reportedly determined Atkinson was driving to Trotwood, Ohio, a Dayton suburb in an area frequently visited by "individuals involved in illegal narcotics trafficking," the affidavit said. After obtaining a warrant to do so, task force members placed a GPS tracking device on the Colorado. On Thursday, after determining Atkinson was returning from the Trotwood area, the pickup truck was stopped in the area of Memorial and Burlington drives. A police K-9 determined there were narcotics in the vehicle, and Atkinson was found to be carrying a bag that held 28.7 grams of fentanyl, the court document said. The

Former Muncie man gets 16 years after guilty plea to dealing in meth
MUNCIE, IN — A former Muncie man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing in meth. Mickey Reese Joyce Jr., 37, more recently of Indianapolis, had pleaded guilty in Delaware Circuit Court 4 to a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison. At a recent hearing, Judge John Feick imposed a 10-year sentence for the dealing conviction and added six years based on Joyce's admission that he was a habitual offender. Under the terms of a plea agreement, three other counts of dealing in meth pending against Joyce were dismissed, along with charges of intimidation, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended. Joyce received credit for more than 1,700 days already spent in jail. The former Muncie man was arrested in January 2022 after he sold meth to an informant for the Muncie-Delaware County Drug Task Force. Investigators said the informant in November 2021 contacted Joyce on Facebook and made arrangements to buy meth from him on Muncie's north side. The transaction reportedly involved 42 grams of meth, according to an affidavit. Joyce's record includes convictions for dealing in a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and armed robbery.
