Review: PORGY AND BESS at Kauffman Center For The Performing Arts
When audiences hear the opening lullaby, “Summertime… and the livin’ is easy,” it is tempting to imagine warmth and simplicity. But Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s production of The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS makes one thing unmistakably clear: life in Catfish Row is anything but easy.

In Culinary News: Boulevard Beer Opening Boulevard Yard
Kansas City’s hometown brewery is adding a major new warm-weather draw. Boulevard Brewing Co. at 2501 Southwest Boulevard has announced the Boulevard Yard, a second-story outdoor bar and patio coming to its Tours & Rec Center, with construction already underway. Designed as a backyard-style hangout overlooking the downtown skyline, the Yard will more than triple the size of the existing Beer Hall patio, adding more lounge seating, table service, an indoor-outdoor bar, large TVs, and space for live music, watch parties, and community events. The timing couldn’t be better, as Kansas City prepares to welcome visitors from around the world this summer with the FIFA World Cup. In addition to classic Boulevard beers, the Yard will shine a spotlight on Quirk Hard Seltzers, expanding the menu with fruit-forward sips and playful patio vibes. After 36 years, Boulevard is still finding new ways to bring Kansas Citians together one beverage at a time.
