Bicyclist killed after crash on Raytown, Missouri trail Friday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department reported a deadly bicycle crash in Raytown, Missouri Friday morning.

According to KCPD, the rider of an electric bicycle crashed on the Rock Island Trail near the 9600 block of East 53rd Street — one block east of Raytown Road.

Officers said reports came through just after 7:45 a.m. after a man, who was out on a morning run, found the rider on the trail. According to KCPD, the exact time of the crash is unknown.

The bicyclist was taken to Research Medical Center with life-threatening injuries in Kansas City, Missouri, and was later pronounced dead by doctors on Saturday, just before 10:30 a.m.

The identity of the bicyclist and the cause of the crash have not been released.
