RAYNHAM, Mass. (WPRI) — Newly released body-worn camera footage shows the moments leading up to a deadly officer-involved shooting in Raynham.

Stephen Maclean, 35, was shot and killed by officers who were performing a well-being check on him Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police said two of the four officers outside Maclean’s apartment fired their weapons after he threatened them with a gun. Another officer also deployed a stun gun, police added.

The footage shows Maclean opening his apartment door and pointing a handgun directly at the officers. The video released by police stops right before they open fire.

Maclean was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The two officers who shot at Maclean, 12-year veterans Sgt. Frank Pacheco and officer Jennifer Lang, have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident, according to police.

It was the second time officers had responded to Maclean’s King Philip Street apartment within 24 hours. Police said Maclean’s girlfriend asked officers to check on him Tuesday morning after he was fired from his job for showing up drunk. She claimed Maclean was acting “belligerent and aggressive.”

Maclean was also arrested on Monday and charged with witness intimidation and disorderly conduct. Those charges stemmed from an ongoing court case involving his girlfriend.

Police said a judge released Maclean even though he had violated his probation for a previous OUI charge.
