Ravenswood woman arrested for threatening to shoot government official after ‘vicious’ dog attacks

RAVENSWOOD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Ravenswood woman has been charged following officer response to reports of a vicious dog attack.

According to the Ravenswood Police Department, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, officers with the Ravenswood Police Department received reports pertaining to a vicious dog.

An investigation to resolve the matter was set into motion and Ravenswood Officers discovered three dog bite victims, one of which was reportedly a juvenile.

The Jackson County Humane Officer, along with Ravenswood PD Officers, made their way to the home of the defendant, identified as Samantha Simmons of Ravenswood, WV.

Authorities began an interaction with Simmons, who purportedly threatened to shoot the responding humane officer.

Based on these events, a warrant was obtained by Ravenswood Officers on Simmons for the charge of Assault on a Government Official, after which Simmons was arrested and transported to South-Central Regional Jail in lieu of bond.

The animal involved in the incident was placed in mandatory quarantine at the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Through Ravenswood City Court, Simmons was also charged for the harboring of a vicious dog and dog at large.
