Citations increase for vehicles extending into traffic in downtown RC
RAPID CITY, S.D. - If you ask Rapid City parking enforcement, drivers have a lot to learn. The number of citations for vehicles extending into the lane of travel were triple the number for the same time-frame last year, with 41 citations. Rapid City is also fielding more citizen complaints.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Plenty of sunshine is expected to begin the weekend. Temperatures will be mild as many will reach the 60s and a few spots could top out in the lower 70s. 13 year old boy hired as Pennington County’s first ever ‘Special Deputy’
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office just hired their first special deputy on Thursday. The new officer recently moved from Idaho to Rapid City. Edward Vawter, a 13-year-old boy, has Freeman-Sheldon syndrome, an exceptionally rare condition that impacts his face, joints, hands, and feet. He was sworn in during his ceremony and was particularly excited about one aspect of being a part of the force.

Plenty of sunshine is expected through the middle of the day Friday, but skies will become partly cloudy as a few showers and storms develop in the mid to late afternoon. A few storms may become strong and possible severe. There is a marginal risk for storms tomorrow, which is the lowest of the severe categories, a level one our of five. Hail and wind will be the primary threat if any storms can reach severe criteria. High temperatures will reach the 80s for many and areas near the Badlands could flirt with 90°.

Cole Younger misses initial appearance due to “substance use”
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The man arrested over the weekend for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery did not attend his scheduled initial appearance in court Tuesday. 35-year-old Cole Younger was unable to attend today’s initial appearance because of what officials called “substance use”. It is unclear what substance was used or when. Younger is accused of the murder of 41-year-old Brandi Snowfly, who police say was found Sunday in a room at the Rodeway Inn on North LaCrosse Street with lacerations to her neck.
