RANGER, W.Va. (WBOY) — A West Virginia State Police trooper shot and killed a man who officials say stabbed another trooper Wednesday night.

The West Virginia State Police said in a press release that they stopped a vehicle on 10 Mile Road in the Ranger area of Lincoln County. Troopers said the suspect, 46-year-old Harman Davis, of Branchland, then ran into a wooded area.

One of the troopers ran after and caught up with Davis, and Davis stabbed the trooper multiple times, according to the West Virginia State Police. Another trooper on the scene then shot Davis, who died from his wounds.
