RAHWAY, NJ — In TAPinto Rahway's recent coverage of the poetry reading organized by Rahway's Own Adele Kenny, we noted that the featured poet of the evening, Edwin Romond, had a Rahway connection. His mother, Margaret Brennan Romond, grew up in Rahway. (We added, in that previous article, that Romond's poem, "My Mother at 20," in his collection, Alone with Love Songs , includes several references to Rahway.)
When speaking with him, Romond added that Brennan Field in Rahway was even named for his grandfather, his mother's father. Inspired by this, and promising to take a few pictures of the field for him at the next opportunity, I headed over there yesterday.
It was a beautiful day. The weather was terrific. The sky was blue. And Brennan Field, located at 777 Ferndale Place, looked lovely from every angle.
I took a bunch of photographs and later sent them to Romond. But then I thought, why not share them too with TAPinto Rahway readers!
I was also reminded of an article I wrote a little over a year and a half ago when Brennan Field was reopened following a playground upgrade. For that article, click here .
