Racine & Me: Meet Miss Racine 2024
RACINE, Wis (CBS 58) -- Christel Rivera was crowned Miss Racine 2024 on November 18th at J.I. Case High School. Eleven women competed for the title in front of a sold-out crowd of 450 in the Case High School theater. Christel is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside pursuing a degree in business management. Christel is a Racine native and graduated from Horlick High School. All titleholders in the Miss America Organization have to be a “community service initiative”. Christel’s is “Fuel In Mind: Changing the Perspective of our Bodies’ Fuel. Her goal with her initiative is to guide our community in finding their personalized, sustainable, healthy lifestyle. She has already accomplished so much with her initiative by creating a curriculum for schools called “Empowered Through Wellness” which is a curriculum delivered to K-12 students that addresses mental health, physical activity, and nutrition. She has hosted Mind & Movement Events which are Beginner level dance classes for children that helps them incorporate physical fitness into their everyday lives. Christel has a consistent social media platform about her initiative called Fuel in Mind Mondays and has created a partnership with United Way of Racine County to aid in promoting community events and programs that pertains to health. Her goal if she were to win Miss Wisconsin in June is to elevate all that she has accomplished in Racine to the major cities within Wisconsin and spread the knowledge and education that Fuel In Mind provides. Christel will be competing for the title and role of Miss Wisconsin this June. The state competition will be held in Oshkosh, WI at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium from June 19-22. Tickets are on sale now at https://www.misswisconsin.org/tickets2024/. There will be 30 women from around the state that will be competing for Miss Wisconsin. Christel is hoping to win and be the first Latina Miss Wisconsin within the Miss America Organization.
